What is Leneva?

Leneva is an injectable, allograft fat-grafting material designed to restore lost padding in the foot. Made from a human-derived adipose tissue matrix, Leneva stimulates the body to regenerate its own fat cells, creating natural cushioning and long-term relief in areas where the fat pad has thinned. Leneva for ball of foot pain Metatarsalgia — pain in the ball of the foot — is common and can make standing or walking uncomfortable. With every step, the ball of the foot absorbs significant pressure. Over time, the natural fat pad can thin, causing pain, inflammation, and difficulty walking. Common causes of fat-pad-related ball-of-foot pain include:
  • Aging and natural fat-pad loss
  • High-impact activities such as running or jumping
  • Footwear choices like high heels or poorly cushioned shoes
  • Medical conditions such as diabetes, arthritis, or nerve disorders
Symptoms may include burning pain, tenderness, numbness, or discomfort when walking barefoot.

The Leneva procedure: what to expect

  • Foot assessment: The physician evaluates the painful area and marks precise injection sites.
  • Injection: Leneva is injected into the affected area, and the physician gently massages the region to ensure even distribution.
  • Recovery & follow-up: Patients can walk immediately, though offloading in a surgical shoe or boot is recommended for 1–2 weeks.
  • Avoid high-impact activity: Running should be avoided for at least 3 months to allow the graft to fully incorporate.
The entire procedure typically takes less than 30 minutes, and most patients experience noticeable improvement within a few weeks.

Who is a candidate for Leneva?

  • Chronic ball-of-foot pain due to fat-pad loss
  • Persistent pain despite orthotics or padding
  • Chronic diabetic plantar ulcerations related to increased pressure
